HOLY WHOA IS THIS LATE OR WHAT?
So between work (So much work. orz.) and my computer being all-but dead I actually haven't drawn at ALL since July. The fact that it is September blows my mind? Anyways, this has been sitting on my computer lined and flatcoloured but unshaded since July and I finally managed to get my laptop booted up and some time to shade.
For June I was assigned Shin, and I was super intimidated - after all, Shin is not only the leader of the exchange, but one of the most well-known and influential fantasy/character artists? But her character, Pai'te is really cool. I hope I did her justice orz.

Wtf I could have sworn I commented on this! I featured it in my journal and everything xD I must look like a total ass!
Please excuse my late comment but know that I absolutely adore this piece ;u; I really appreciate all of the effort you've put into getting the character design accurate and putting little details into the picture. I just love the mood created by the color palette you've chosen; it makes me think that she's gone out to explore on an early but warm morning where the sun isn't up all the way yet. she looks just delighted to find a small friend and appreciates life even in its smaller forms ;u;
I also really love how you've positioned her on that branch and the way gravity affects her long not-so-thin body. Her details are perfect; you did a really great job imagining her markings on a 3D form when only given a side-view reference <3
And lastly, those little details!! The waves are just great and the relatively simple BG really helps keep the viewer focused on the character. I also love that there are dragons flying in the background, where you normally see birds in scenes like this xD
