Five Lined Dragon

Description

Today in English class, I decided that "The Homecoming" by Harold Pinter was really not my cup of tea as far as class discussions, and promptly doodled this little guy's horns on my Anthology of British Literature. Naturally, a dragon head materialized beneath them. When I got home I decided to whip up a sketch and then sprite it, and this is the result. If anyone recalls my brief (but passionate!) obsession with five-lined skinks (they live in ONTARIO) they might see where this little guy came from. He is completely unskinklike, but that's alright. (I nearly applied for Parchisu with a five-lined skink design which was MUCH more skinky.)

Also, he doesn't get wings because CAN YOU IMAGINE FLYING WITH A RACK LIKE THAT ON YOUR HEAD?

Anyhoo.

Five lined drakes are a moderately sized breed of dragon, being approximately five feet at the shoulder. Their height is accentuated by their carriage; five lines keep their long necks erect, prominently showing their enormous, twirled horns. These horns can be as long as three feet in mature males, bringing their height at the tips of their horns to approximately nine feet. It is believed that long ago, five lined drakes used their horns in feats of strength such as sparring matches, however the modern breed's horns are so long and so ornate that they are inefficent for such tasks in their fragility. Males now impress potential mates by holding their heads as high as possible in an attempt to keep their horns the tallest amongst their peers.
